Fit and Sizing
A single reference for how we size each category. Measured in centimeters first, inches second. When between sizes, our default recommendation is to choose the larger — except where noted.
Jacket
Fencing jackets are sized by chest circumference. Choose the size that matches your measurement; jackets are designed to fit close without restricting the front-foot lunge.
How to measure
- Stand relaxed, shoulders down, arms at your sides.
- Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight.
- If between sizes, choose the larger for layering over a plastron.

FIE-rated jackets (800N) and CE-rated jackets (350N) share the same size grading. Measured before wash.
Pants (Breeches)
Fencing breeches are sized by waist. Length is fixed; cut is designed to sit above the knee with room for a lunge.
How to measure
- Measure around the natural waist where the breeches will sit.
- If between sizes, choose the larger if you lunge deep.

Rated and non-rated breeches share the same size grading.
Plastron (Underarm Protector)
The plastron sits under the jacket on the weapon side. Sized to match jacket size.

Mask
Masks are sized by head circumference. A correctly sized mask sits firmly without pinching the jaw or crown.
How to measure
- Wrap the tape around the widest part of the head, above the ears and across the forehead.
- Keep the tape horizontal and snug, not tight.

All masks meet FIE 1600N or CE 350N standards as labeled per SKU.
Glove
Gloves are sized by hand circumference measured around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.
How to measure
- Make a relaxed fist.
- Measure around the hand at the knuckles, leaving the thumb out.

Lamés are sized to match jacket size. They are worn over the jacket for foil and sabre.

Shoe
Fencing shoes are built for lateral stability. We publish sizing against both US and EU standards; fit runs slightly narrow.

If you are between sizes, choose the larger. Fencers who pronate or have a wider forefoot typically size up half.
